What You'll Learn
A ground-up curriculum that covers every major system in a modern gas gathering and processing plant.
Separation, compression and inlet systems
Amine treating, plus molecular sieve and TEG dehydration
Cryogenic NGL recovery and propane refrigeration
Condensate stabilization and utility systems
SCADA and DCS operations, metering, and safety compliance: OSHA 10, H2S and LOTO
The Path And The Pay
Phases 1 to 3AAbout 4 months
Classroom instruction and field training, on the 14 on / 14 off schedule.
PayTraining days are unpaid. Your off days are open for outside work.
Phase 3B1 hitch, 2 weeks
Your first paid hitch. A supervised field competency evaluation.
PayDay rate plus daily per diem.
Phase 4About 8 months
Full employment with Midstream Operators. You graduate at the end of Phase 4.
PayDay rate plus daily per diem, plus mob/demob and mileage.
Specific rates are confirmed in the employment agreement and are subject to change.

Midstream Operators has been commissioning, starting up and running natural gas facilities since 2018. Their crews are process operators, mechanics and I/E techs.

About You
Program Fit
The program runs 14 on / 14 off in Lea and Eddy County, New Mexico. Housing is provided while you are on hitch. Your 14 days off are on you, and so is your travel to and from.
Class 2 starts January 13, 2027 and runs 12 months to graduation. Can't make January? The next class, Class 3, is expected to start in mid-June 2027, and you can apply for it right here.
Phases 1 through 3A run about 4 months, and training days are unpaid. Your off days are open for outside work. Paid work starts in Phase 3B, before you graduate.
The program is drug and alcohol free. Zero exceptions.
