Everyone's seen the layoff headlines:
Chevron...15-20% gone.
ConocoPhillips...25% cut.
Halliburton...slashing crews.
Looks bad right?
Here's what the news won't tell you:
Oil production is at an ALL TIME HIGH. 13.6 million barrels a day. More than ever in American history.
The industry isn't shrinking. It's getting meaner.
The guys who survive this are the ones with:
- Certs stacked
- Clean piss tests
- Showing up when others don't
- Doing 3 jobs for the price of 1
The oilfield has always shaken out the weak hands. This ain't new. This is how it works.
If you're still employed right now, congratulations...you made the cut. But don't get comfortable. Keep stacking certs. Keep being the guy they can't afford to lose.
The easy money era is over. The oilfield isn't going anywhere.
But the guys who thought they could coast? They're already gone.
Adapt or get left behind.
