What This Job Is

Class 8 trucks and trailers, in the shop and on the lease.

Engines, transmissions, drivelines, brakes, air, electrical and hydraulics. DEF and after-treatment work, which is most of what puts a modern truck on the hook. DOT annual inspections and PM on the schedule.

Field calls come out of a stocked service truck. Some of that is at 20 below on a lease road.

Bring your own hand tools.

Duties

Service and repair heavy trucks, vacuum units, hot oil units and trailers.
Diagnose engine, hydraulic, air and electrical problems and fix them.
Preventive maintenance, DOT inspections and keeping units on the road.
Field calls when a truck goes down on location.
Keep parts, fluids and service records tracked.
Shop and field work both. Some days you are under a truck in the yard, some days on a lease road.

What You Need

Own hand tools required. No CDL needed, having one is a plus.

What The Work Involves

Most oilfield mechanic seats in this basin do not require a CDL, though having one widens what you can be sent out on.
