Heating and circulating fluid to clear paraffin and get a well flowing again. Steady year round work, a licence gate lower than most tanker seats, and one of the few Bakken jobs where three separate outfits all printed a number in the same month. Three employers, three towns, all posted within three weeks of each other and all topping out between $33 and $36. That is the closest agreement we have found on any role in this basin.
Two of these three take a Class B. One of them takes either. Only one requires a Class A.
That matters because hot oil pays $26 to $36 an hour, which is in the same country as winch truck work that needs a Class A. If you already have a B, or you are deciding which school to pay for, this is one of the seats that makes a B worth having.
What all three do require is a tanker endorsement. You are hauling and heating fluid, so that one is not optional anywhere. Get it with whichever class you go for.
The other Class B seat worth knowing about is hydrovac, which posted $29–45/hr in this basin. Between the two, a Class B with tanker opens more good money out here than most hands realise.

All three postings say you will work in all weather, and all three put a 50 pound lifting figure on it. Two state outright that long hours, nights, weekends and holidays come with the job.
One Watford City posting also lists paid housing as a benefit, which is worth asking about anywhere out here if you are coming in from out of state.
Two of the three explicitly want people willing to learn. This is one of the more forgiving seats to move into if you are already carded.
Hot oil needs a Class B with tanker at minimum. If you are starting with nothing, swamping is how hands out here get into a truck without paying for school up front.

This is the tightest agreement we have found on any role. Three unrelated outfits all topping out between $33 and $36 in the same month is worth more than a bigger sample that disagrees with itself.
